The code of practice for Managing Risks in Stevedoring:
- provides practical guidance on how to manage health and safety risks associated with stevedoring; and how to achieve the standards required under the work health and safety laws
- applies to all workplaces where stevedoring work is done and anyone involved in these activities
- covers planning and inspections
- covers the working environment, including gangways, lighting, traffic management noise and more
- explains handling loads and cargo, including suspended loads, lashing and unlashing container, working in ships’ holds, and more
- covers plant and equipment, including powered mobile plant and various cranes
- includes checklists.
