This results in a serious injury frequency rate of 12.0 serious injuries per million hours worked.

The serious injury frequency rate of 12.0 is 13% higher than the state average of 10.6.

The industry’s serious injury frequency rate was 10% lower in 2023 than ten years ago.

There have been two work related deaths in the last ten years.

Metal container manufacturing reported the highest serious injury frequency rate.

The occupations with the highest proportion of serious injuries were:

  • Food process workers with 15% of the total and
  • Labourers workers with 14% of the total

  • Body stressing
  • Being hit by moving objects
  • Falls, slips and trips
