Audits and self-evaluations
One of the conditions of accreditation for accredited WRPs is that they participate in WorkCover Tasmania audits and annual self-assessments to demonstrate conformance with the approval criteria and conditions of accreditation.
WRPs should refer to the following documents when assessing conformance against the conditions:
- WorkCover Tasmania’s Accreditation Requirements for Workplace Rehabilitation Providers in Tasmania (the Tasmanian Requirements) (PDF, 646.6 KB)
- Heads of Workers’ Compensation Authorities’ Principles of Practice for Workplace Rehabilitation Providers (Principles of Practice) (PDF, 286.3 KB)
WorkCover Tasmania audits
Periodic audits will be undertaken by WorkSafe Tasmania staff.
Audits may be undertaken in person at the WRP’s location, by a desktop audit, or a mix of both.
Auditors will liaise with WRPs about a suitable date for any on-site audits and will confirm in writing the scope of audit, location and duration.
Information about a WRP’s performance may generate cause for a periodic evaluation being arranged to assess the provider’s conformance with the approval criteria and conditions of accreditation.
Auditors may consider provider performance by reviewing and analysing duration and cost data received from insurers, complaints records, WRP self-assessment reports, corrective actions identified from previous WorkCover Tasmania audits and WRP self-assessments, and any other information supplied to WorkCover Tasmania.
Annual self-evaluations
If you are an accredited WRP that operates in Tasmania, you will need to complete and submit to WorkCover Tasmania the following documents:
- Annual Monitoring and Compliance Report (Self-Assessment) (PDF, 412.7 KB)
- Copies of current certificates of currency for:
- Professional indemnity insurance
- Public liability insurance
- Tasmanian workers compensation insurance
- Updated staff details sheet
- Supervision plans for new staff/contractors that have commenced in the last 12 months under supervision (if not previously submitted)
- Supervision plans for staff/contractors that have completed their supervision period in the last 12 months (if not previously submitted)
- Corrective action plans (DOCX, 121.2 KB) and progress reports addressing identified non-conformances (if applicable)
Completed self-assessment reports and relevant documentation must be emailed to workcover.tasmania@justice.tas.gov.au.
Corrective actions
For non-conformances identified during the WRP’s self-assessment and/or a WorkCover Tasmania audit, the WRP must submit:
- A corrective action plan addressing each non-conformance identified 30 days from the date the evaluation report is received.
- Evidence of progress towards compliance within 3 months from the date the evaluation report is received.
If a corrective action plan is required, providers may wish to use the following corrective action plan template.
Corrective action plans and progress reports must be emailed to workcover.tasmania@justice.tas.gov.au.
