A closed cab filters out the silica dust from the air entering the cab and is a much safer option than wearing a respirator. To maintain its effectiveness, the filters in the cab should be serviced regularly, windows should be kept closed, seat covers should be selected so that they do not trap dust. Any dust transported into the cab by the operator should be regularly removed using an approved vacuum cleaner and wet wiping.
