Meeting workers where they are: regional mental health support that works
Access to consistent, inclusive, and proactive mental health support in regional workplaces can be life-changing, and even lifesaving. In this presentation, explore how Access Psych has partnered with Hydro Tasmania to deliver a comprehensive and holistic mental health and wellbeing program to remote worksites across the state. Their model combines regular onsite visits by a mental health clinician, regional counselling, health and skin checks, ergonomic support, and psychoeducation. Embedding mental health professionals into the workplace culture, they have helped break down stigma, build trust, and promote early intervention. Their approach recognises the unique challenges of regional and rural settings, such as isolation, limited access to services, and tight-knit work cultures, and addresses these through flexible, trauma informed, and relationship-centred care. This presentation offers practical insights into how other organisations can implement similar models to support their rural workforce and create sustainable change.
