The code of practice for Managing risks of hazardous chemicals in the workplace:

  • provides practical guidance on how to manage health and safety risks associated with hazardous chemicals; and how to achieve the standards required under the work health and safety laws
  • applies to all workplaces where hazardous chemicals are used and anyone involved in these activities
  • explains prohibited and restricted hazardous chemicals, exposure standards, and preparing a register and manifest of hazardous chemicals
  • explains identifying hazardous chemicals, including using safety data sheets and labels
  • explains risk management process and controlling risks
  • explains health monitoring and emergency preparedness
  • includes placard and manifest quantities, checklists, practical examples of control measures, case studies and more.
