Office Door
The door where we're cutting cement sheets is the main way we get into the site. It goes right into the office area, and because it isn't sealed properly, dust from cutting is floating into the office space and settling on things.
The worker's mask
The worker's mask doesn't fit properly because he has a beard. If the mask doesn't seal well, silica dust can get into his lungs and cause harm.
Cutting cement sheets
Using the grinder to cut cement sheets makes dust float in the air. This makes it more likely for us to breathe in silica dust particles.
Personal protective equipment
The worker is dressed in a long-sleeved shirt, long pants, gloves, and safety glasses. Wearing this gear - what we call ‘personal protective equipment’, or PPE - helps them to stay safe, but it's not the only thing that keeps them safe.
