Managing the risks of plant in the workplace: Code of practice

Effective in Tasmania on and from 27 July 2022

The code of practice for Managing the risks of plant in the workplace:

  • provides practical guidance on how to manage the health and safety risks associated with plant; and how to achieve the standards required under the work health and safety laws
  • applies to all workplaces where plant is used and anyone involved in these activities
  • covers the risk management process
  • explains controlling risks from purchase to disposal, including purchasing and hiring plant, installing and commissioning plant, inspecting plant, decommissioning and dismantling plant, and more
  • covers specific control measures, including guarding, emergency stops, warning devices and more
  • explains plant registration and record keeping
  • includes hazard checklist and examples of technical standards.
