Wages, awards and agreements
All enquiries regarding wages and conditions of employment contact the Fair Work Infoline on 13 13 94
As from 1 January 2010, the Tasmanian Government's powers for industrial relations were transferred to the Commonwealth. All workplaces in the private sector, who up until this time were in the state system (sole traders, partnerships etc), moved into the national scheme (Fair Work Act 2009) effective from this date.
This move did not affect State Service employees who remain under the Tasmanian Industrial Relations Act 1984.
WorkSafe Tasmania no longer provides industrial relations advice, other than to State Service employees. Enquiries should now be directed to the office of the Fair Work Ombudsman on 13 13 94, Monday-Friday 8am-6pm.
Unless otherwise outlined in an award or registered agreement, the Long Service Leave Act 1976 will continue to apply to all employees in Tasmania and will be administered by WorkSafe Tasmania.
For information and enquiries regarding your entitlements under the Long Service Leave Act 1976 contact WorkSafe on 1300 366 322 (inside Tas) or (03) 6166 4600 (outside Tas).
